Why We Call Our Members Dewlings

Have you ever wondered why we call our mail club members Dewlings?

A flat lay of a children's craft or coloring kit on a wooden surface, including a booklet titled 'The northern Cardinal,' a green card reading 'Dewdrops Mail Club,' illustrated cards, sticker sheets, and small decorative props like dried flowers and a succulent.

It's a little word I made up by blending dewdrops + seedling. And just like a tiny seedling, the idea behind it is all about growth.

Dewling [doo-ling], noun: a friend of the Dewdrops Mail Club.

But being a Dewling is about more than being part of a mail club. It's about growing our love for nature and learning how to care for it. At Dewdrops Mail Club, we believe that getting to know nature is the first step toward protecting it. After all, "We only protect what we love, we only love what we understand" - Jacques Yves Cousteau.

That's why every month, we explore a new corner of the natural world together. We learn about the amazing plants and animals that share our planet, discover little ways to connect with nature, and find simple changes we can make in our everyday lives to create a positive environmental impact.

Because making a difference doesn't have to start with something big. Sometimes, it starts with a small change... a dewdrop, if you will.

And that's what being a Dewling is all about: growing our love for nature and learning how to care for it, one dewdrop at a time.
